I am
PETER AMESZ April 18 1958 Photography became a real hobby in 2012. At that time, I had a good DSLR camera which I only used on automatic mode. Together with Albert van der Wiel, we started photography courses at SKVR in Rotterdam in 2012. We took two basic courses there, as well as courses in flash and studio photography. After that, we took several portrait photography courses with a Rotterdam photographer (Henk Pasman). I stopped working in 2020. From the early 1980s, I worked in IT, spending the last eight years of my career as an independent consultant/project manager. During that period, I also took the photography courses. After a busy workday, it took some adjustment to attend these courses in the evening, but by the end of the night, I would go home feeling completely relaxed again. Photography served as a self-relaxation tool for me at that time. In addition to the courses, we also regularly attend workshops. We have been to Fotounie several times, and each time we come home with a large number of beautiful photos. I don't really have a favorite genre. The camera always goes with us on vacation, and now and then I go on a photography holiday with Albert. Besides photography, I also go to the gym three times a week; thats not really a hobby, but it is useful. Reading and cooking are other hobbies, and I have a beautiful collection of penguins. More than 20 years ago, I started buying porcelain penguins at flea markets in France and later searched for them on every trip. I now have more than 100 penguins from France, Berlin, Prague, New York, and other cities. I collect penguins and memories. Life is a series of moments, take photos of them and preserve the memories.
