I am
MARGO VELDHUIZEN 16 April 1962 About 15 years ago I started with photography. I did not follow a formal education in photography, but I did attend several workshops at FotoUnie, where I learned a great deal. I prefer photographing in Asia, such as in India. When I photograph in the Netherlands, my favorite subjects are athletes and sports photography. For my own webshop, where I sell hobby-related products, I take all the photos myself. In this way, I can combine my hobby with my work. I have been invited twice to go on a press trip. Once I traveled to Thailand for the travel website Bestemming in Beeldand once to Jordan for the ANWB travel magazine. What I aim to achieve with my photo journeys is, for example in India, to connect with local people, capture their emotions, and share their stories. Through my lens, I want to show others what I see and let them experience the authentic beauty and strength of this colorful world. My favorite time to photograph is during the golden hour. Some time ago, I came across a call on Facebook to participate in a so-called Schnitzeljacht (photo scavenger hunt), organized by CCC FotoUnie. I signed up without having any idea what to expect. I went there, and since then I keep coming back. It is my favorite playground. It is always enjoyable, and I learn a lot. I also gain a great deal of inspiration from a photographer I admire: Steve McCurry. I photograph with a Sony A9 II, and my favorite lens is the 70200mm f/2.8 GM II.
