JOS VAN LEUKEN I was born in Eindhoven in 1988 and, after a number of wanderings, I now live there again. I have two children and in daily life I work as a volunteer for Stichting WIJeindhoven. This foundation supports people in Eindhoven who need help in various areas, such as household repairs, transportation, grocery shopping, and more. I am not a photographer, but a model—something I became entirely by chance. About six years ago I went to the FotoFair, together with one of my five cats, who usually go everywhere with me. At the FotoFair I met Ki Tan. He thought it was great that I was walking around with a cat on my shoulder, and that the cat clearly looked like he was enjoying it. Because of that, Ki asked me to come to his studio sometime. No sooner said than done, and since then I have participated in many workshops, sometimes with one cat, sometimes with all of them. When Ki’s studio moved to Tilburg, I was also able to help him a lot with the move. It doesn’t matter to me which workshop I take part in—I enjoy them all equally. And although I don’t photograph myself, except for some phone photos of the projects I do for Stichting WIJeindhoven, I really love it when photographers send me the photos they have taken of me. It is always pleasant at FotoUnie. I enjoy coming there, feel at home and welcome, and hope to be able to come there for many years to come.
