I am
JAN VAN DEN BROEK My love for photography began when I was eleven and won a drawing competition. The prize was an Agfamatic point-and-shoot camera with a 110 cartridge. From that moment on, I was hooked I could capture images wherever I went. When I started my studies, a period of photographic drought followed. It wasnt until our first son was born that I picked up the camera again. Later, I began photographing basketball games in dark sports halls fast-paced and chaotic environments. There, I learned to anticipate moments, react quickly, and not be afraid of imperfection. Alongside other genres, I am now especially drawn to street photography. That feeling of being completely absorbed in the moment, having to stay alert, curious, and open to whatever unfolds on the street gives me tremendous energy. For me, photography is pure relaxation a counterbalance to a busy working life. I draw inspiration from the work of David LaChapelle, Tony Le Duc, Annie Leibovitz, Mark Fearnley, Alan Schaller, and Phil Penman. My next step? Further developing my food photography and turning it into a personal cookbook an ode to flavor, family, and imagery.
