I am
GERRIE POLAK VAN DE HOUT 8 February 1953 About twenty years ago I started photography. For four years I attended an evening photography course, where I learned an enormous amount. Before taking this course, I could basically only hold my cameraand that was about it.Since I have been retired for several years now, I have plenty of time for this wonderful hobby. One of the most beautiful things I have ever done was about two years ago, when I was asked to photograph a wedding. It was a very special experience and an incredibly enjoyable day.I try to capture a lot of detail in my photos and, if possible, emotion as well. My goal is for every photo to tell a story. And every moment of the day is a good moment to take photographs. Many years ago, I was in Almere with several photographers, where I met Ki. Through him, I joined FotoUnie.Ki is always positive and does everything he can to help you grow in your photography. A friendship has developed that will never fade. Over the years, I have learned to really observe and to take my time when creating a photograph. And when the photo turns out exactly as I had envisioned, it gives me a deep sense of satisfaction and great joy. I especially enjoy shooting macro photography, portraits, and architecture. My favorite photographers include Erwin Olaf and Ansel Adams, who worked primarily in black and white. I have often studied their photographs and draw a great deal of inspiration from them. My equipment consists of a Sony A7, along with a macro lens, a wide-angle lens, a 2470mm lens, and several filters. My life motto is: passion for life, and that is what I aim to express through my photographs.
