Nienke Baas
Photographer

I am
NIENKE BAAS I have been photographing from a very young age. With my analog camera, I took pictures of outings, renovations in our house, and of our pets and children. When digital photography came along, I really got into it. I photographed everything, using the automatic mode. In December 2020, I started exploring terms online such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and composition rules, and I began photographing using the AV or TV mode on my Canon camera. I followed many online courses, and occasionally I attended in-person workshops, such as animal photography at Aqua Zoo in Leeuwarden, Siberian ground squirrels in Tilburg, and GLOW in Eindhoven. In 2024, I joined a photography group in Groningen, and from that time on, I started shooting in Manual (M) mode. In 2024, I went to Elfia for a weekend to photograph and stayed at a hotel near Tilburg. Through CameraNu, I attended a light painting workshop and a studio photography masterclass at FotoUnie. Since then, I have been visiting FotoUnie regularly. Being at FotoUnie always feels like coming home to me. I had a wish to see the Northern Lights, which I fulfilled in October 2024 in Iceland. It was a special trip. After that, I got hooked and traveled to Scotland in April 2025 and to Madeira in November 2025. In May 2025, I started working as a self-employed photographer. From September, I began teaching photography lessons at a primary school, and I must say I really love doing it. I definitely plan to expand this in the future to more schools, after-school programs, and clubs in my area. Facebook / Instagram: nienke.perfectphoto
