Laimute Kuriene
Photographer

I am
LAIMUT? (LAIMA) KURIEN? My work is shaped by a deep love for travel, nature, and the quiet stories hidden within everyday landscapes. Born in Lithuania and living in The Hague for nearly twenty years, I have built a life driven by curiosity, movement, and a continuous search for beauty in the world around me. Travel has always been my greatest passion and led me to photography as a creative path. What began as a fascination with nature evolved into a lifelong pursuit of visual storytelling. Whether wandering through remote landscapes or vibrant cities, I seek moments where light, texture, and emotion align in ways that feel both personal and universal. Although photography has remained a passion rather than a profession, I approach it with dedication and care. Through workshops and creative collaborations, I continue to develop my skills both technically and artistically. My style combines precision with intuition, resulting in images that are atmospheric, thoughtful, and authentic. Using my trusted Nikon cameras, I work patiently and attentively, always guided by sincerity. My work has reached audiences beyond my travels through exhibitions and international recognition. Two private visits to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone inspired my first book, Chernobyl: Three Decades After the Nuclear Disaster (ISBN: 9786094547928). My second book, Bring Me Some Dreams (ISBN: 9786094549083), created with poet Sunni Lamin Barrow, is a poetic and visual tribute to the Netherlandsthe country I now call home. FotoUnie has been an inspiring creative community that continues to enrich my photographic journey. It is more than a place to learn; it is a space to share passions, celebrate life, and build meaningful connections.
