JOANNE DE GRAAFF I was born on December 9, 1947, in the Zeeland town of Goes. I started photographing when our children were young, still in the analog era. At first it was mainly family snapshots, but this soon expanded into nature photography. To improve the quality of my photos, I followed several courses. With the arrival of the digital camera, photography took on an important place in my life. Alongside photography, Photoshop also entered the picture, and editing photos gives me great pleasure. This was followed by a period of many special journeys all over the world. The memories of those extraordinary trips are still experienced as moments of happiness. By now, my bookshelf is filled with photo books containing images of the most remarkable places, from Antarctica to Greenland and many in between. I realize how special it is that I have been to all these places, and that through my photographs I can enjoy them for a lifetime. Besides a great deal of nature and culture, I have had the opportunity to meet people living in circumstances very different from my own. From the moment I came into contact with FotoUnie, my photography became more versatile. Spending time with fellow photographers has brought many enjoyable moments and special photographs. In recent years, I have focused more on model photography, both in the studio and at beautiful locations. I particularly prefer romantic settings with large, flowing gowns. This book will certainly show that everyone approaches photography in their own way. In this field, there is no single holy truth. As long as you enjoy this hobby yourself, it is good—and it is a wonderful bonus if others enjoy your photographs as well.
