ILONA SWINKELS My passion for nature photography is expressed through images ranging from vast landscapes to macro photography of insects and portraits of wild animals. I share these warm, evocative images in an experiential book for children, inviting them to continue to wonder and connect with nature. My slogan is: The language of light captured in images; nature, unity, and strength. Fourteen years ago, I bought my first DSLR camera. Together with my photography partner and husband, Edwin Hoek, I have explored and braved many landscapes. Our shared passion for photography brought us together as photographers and as owners of our company, Heartsense Fotografie. We create photographic journeys, embrace adventure, and share our experience through workshops and lectures across the country. In my autonomous work, I create crowns from flowers and organic materials. These elements enhance emotions such as movement, dance, or stillness within my images. I work with models in studio settings as well as outdoors, developing contemporary concepts in cinematic environments—rugged landscapes, water, or near ancient trees. This is where my passion truly comes alive. Peter van Tuijl is an important source of inspiration. Through mentorship programs focused on narrative and documentary photography, I have gained strong experience in visual storytelling. A special project by Maarten Coolen, portraying residents of Eindhoven, gave me the opportunity to photograph an artist in a way that visually matched her personal slogan. The work was printed using the Mizdruk, the oldest printing press in the Netherlands, and is exhibited at CKE.
