I am
HANS BONSEN 1959 My love for photography started at an early age: when I was ten years old, I began experimenting with my fathers old box camera. With the first money I ever earned, I bought an analogue Minolta camera. Over the years, I gradually upgraded to newer models, eventually ending up with the Sony A7RV. Photography is, for me, a pleasant counterbalance to my work as an ICT project manager. By nature, I am a curious person, which also explains my broad interest in photography. Whereas I initially photographed mainly during holidays, this later expanded to many special images from the beautiful long-distance journeys we have made. I share my travel experiences through reports, preferably created using new technological possibilities. For example, I once started a travel blog when the internet was still in its infancy, and nowadays I usually do this via Polarsteps and Facebook. Over the years, I have been inspired by new creative forms and techniques. I therefore regularly and enthusiastically attend workshops and courses in this field with various fellow photographers. In addition, whenever possible I visit the annual Fotofair and I am a loyal fan of FotoUnie/Dragon Studios by Ki Tan. I have also managed to overcome my initial hesitation about working with models, and that experience proves very useful in my volunteer work: for Stichting Opkikker, I photograph families in my studio during Opkikkerdagen, which is incredibly rewarding work. You can find my storytelling photographic work on Facebook under hans.bonsen. I also publish my work on Instagram under bons_fotograaf and bons_modelfotograaf. You will not immediately find a single common thread or specific message in my photography. I aim for visually engaging results and I am happy when I can make others happy with my work.
