ESTHER SWAAGER 8 April 1967 About 12 years ago, I started with photography. I completed my education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where I graduated in 2020 with an artistic nude male photography project as my final work. In everyday life, I only do things I enjoy, and I also greatly enjoy spending time with my grandchildren. Unfortunately, I don’t have much time for photography, but when I do, I try to make the most of it. In addition to photography, I also work with makeup, special effects makeup, and hairstyling. When I decided to follow a number of workshops, I ended up at CCC Fotounie, where I met Ki. There, I also met many people who share the same passion as I do. I photograph with a Canon D5 Mark III and a Canon 24–70 mm lens—a great combination. I prefer photographing with two people present, so I can act as the second photographer. That way, I can capture my own moments. I don’t go for the standard approach. My preference is artistic nude photography, both in the studio and on location. That is what I enjoy most. I also don’t take many photos during a shoot—usually between 50 and 75 images. I don’t have a favorite photographer and never have. I photograph from the heart. If the feeling is right, then it’s right for me. I feel the same way about photographs by others: if I walk past a photo and then turn back to look again, that’s a sign it has triggered something in me.
