JOANNE DE GRAAFF Op 9 december 1947 ben ik geboren in het Zeeuwse stadje Goes. Het fotograferen startte toen onze kinderen jong waren, dus nog in het analoge tijdperk. In eerste instantie familiekiekjes, maar dat werd al snel uitgebreid naar natuurfotografie. Om wat niveau in de foto’s te krijgen heb ik wat cursussen gevolgd. Met de komst van de digitale camera heeft het fotograferen een belangrijke plek in mijn leven ingenomen. Naast het fotograferen kwam ook Photoshop in beeld en het foto bewerken geeft me heel veel plezier. Er brak ook een periode aan van veel bijzondere reizen over heel de wereld. De herinneringen aan die bijzondere reizen ervaar ik nog steeds als geluksmomenten. Ondertussen staan er veel fotoboeken in mijn kast met foto’s van de meest bijzondere plaatsen, van Antarctica tot Groenland en veel er tussenin. Ik besef dat het bijzonder is dat ik op al die plaatsen ben geweest en dat ik door mijn foto’s daar levenslang van kan genieten. Naast veel natuur en cultuur, heb ik kennis mogen maken met mensen in heel andere leefomstandigheden dan de leefwereld waar ik in woon. Vanaf het moment dat ik in contact kwam met de FotoUnie, is mijn fotografie veelzijdiger geworden. Het optrekken met fotovrienden heeft al heel wat plezierige momenten en bijzondere foto’s opgeleverd. De laatste jaren richt ik me meer op modellenfotografie zowel in de studio als op mooie locaties. Vooral de romantische settings met grote romantische jurken hebben mijn voorkeur. Dit boek zal zeker laten zien dat iedereen op z’n eigen manier met fotografie bezig is. Op dat gebied is er geen heilige waarheid. Zolang je zelf plezier beleeft aan deze hobby, is het goed. JOANNE DE GRAAFF I was born on December 9, 1947, in the Zeeland town of Goes. I started photographing when our children were young, still in the analog era. At first it was mainly family snapshots, but this soon expanded into nature photography. To improve the quality of my photos, I followed several courses. With the arrival of the digital camera, photography took on an important place in my life. Alongside photography, Photoshop also entered the picture, and editing photos gives me great pleasure. This was followed by a period of many special journeys all over the world. The memories of those extraordinary trips are still experienced as moments of happiness. By now, my bookshelf is filled with photo books containing images of the most remarkable places, from Antarctica to Greenland and many in between. I realize how special it is that I have been to all these places, and that through my photographs I can enjoy them for a lifetime. Besides a great deal of nature and culture, I have had the opportunity to meet people living in circumstances very different from my own. From the moment I came into contact with FotoUnie, my photography became more versatile. Spending time with fellow photographers has brought many enjoyable moments and special photographs. In recent years, I have focused more on model photography, both in the studio and at beautiful locations. I particularly prefer romantic settings with large, flowing gowns. This book will certainly show that everyone approaches photography in their own way. In this field, there is no single holy truth. As long as you enjoy this hobby yourself, it is good—and it is a wonderful bonus if others enjoy your photographs as well.
