ESTHER SWAAGER 8 april 1967 Ongeveer 12 jaar geleden ben ik begonnen met fotografie. Ik heb mijn opleiding gedaan aan de Academie der schone kunsten in Antwerpen. Waar ik in 2020 afgestudeerd ben met als afstudeerproject artistiek naakt mannen. In het dagelijks leven doe ik alleen dingen die ik leuk vind en heb ik ook veel plezier met mijn kleinkinderen. Voor fotograferen heb ik helaas niet veel tijd, maar als deze er is probeer ik die wel te benutten. Daarnaast fotograferen doe ik visagie, grimeren en haarstyling. Toen ik besloten had een aantal workshops te gaan volgen kwam ik bij CCC Fotounie terecht en daar leerde Ki kennen. Maar daar heb ik ook een heleboel mensen leren kennen die dezelfde passie hebben als ik. Ik fotografeer met een canon D5 mark III en een canon lens 24-70 mm. Een fijne combinatie. Het liefst fotografeer ik met 2 personen, zodat ik de 2de fotograaf kan zijn. Ik kan dan mijn moment pakken. Ik ga niet voor het standaard. Mijn voorkeur heeft artistiek naakt, zowel in de studio als op locatie. Dat vind ik het leukste om te doen. Ik maak ook niet veel foto’s tijdens een shoot. Tussen de 50 en 75 stuks. Ik heb geen favoriete fotograaf. Nooit gehad. Ik fotografeer vanuit mijn hart. Als het gevoel goed is, dan is het voor mij prima. Dat heb ik ook met foto’s van andere mensen. Als ik een foto voorbij loop en ik loop terug, is dat een teken dat het mij heeft getriggerd.

I completed my education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where I graduated in 2020 with an artistic nude male photography project as my final work. In everyday life, I only do things I enjoy, and I also greatly enjoy spending time with my grandchildren. Unfortunately, I don’t have much time for photography, but when I do, I try to make the most of it. In addition to photography, I also work with makeup, special effects makeup, and hairstyling. When I decided to follow a number of workshops, I ended up at CCC Fotounie, where I met Ki. There, I also met many people who share the same passion as I do. I photograph with a Canon D5 Mark III and a Canon 24–70 mm lens—a great combination. I prefer photographing with two people present, so I can act as the second photographer. That way, I can capture my own moments. I don’t go for the standard approach. My preference is artistic nude photography, both in the studio and on location. That is what I enjoy most. I also don’t take many photos during a shoot—usually between 50 and 75 images. I don’t have a favorite photographer and never have. I photograph from the heart. If the feeling is right, then it’s right for me. I feel the same way about photographs by others: if I walk past a photo and then turn back to look again, that’s a sign it has triggered something in me.
